PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophoresis measuring apparatus which can compensate for the effect of the electroosmotic flow by simultaneously observing the electrophoresis of standard particles and objective particles and detecting the speed ratio or difference therebetween. CONSTITUTION:When standard particles are introduced near the converging points P1 and P2 of the laser beam from a laser beam source 4, by lenses 6 and 8, on the concentric radiuses of a cylindrical electrophoretic tube 1, and the lenses 6 and 8 are moved on the optical axes, the converging points P1 and P2 are set through detectors 9 and 10 and an arithmetic apparatus 11 so that the speeds V0 of the standard particles detected by the detectors 9 and 10 are equal to each other. Then, with the lenses 6 and 8 fixed and objective particles introduced near the set converging point P1 and the standard particles near the point P2, the speed ratio, (V-V0)/ V0, is calculated by the apparatus 11, where V is the moving speed of the objective particles. Accordingly, it is possible to perform the electrophoresis measurement wherein the effect of the electroosmotic flow due to convection is compensated. |
