A shaft (12) for torque transmission, e.g. a motor vehicle propeller shaft having first and second parts connected by a length-adjusting means, has a holding element which is not subject to torque, extending coaxially with the shaft. One end of the holding element is non-rotatingly connected to the shaft and the other end of the holding element and the shaft part adjacent such other end have cooperating elements of indicating means for indicating shaft twisting under torque, the indicating means comprising a radially extending member (22) on the one hand and at least one deformable element (24) on the other hand, the arrangement being such that when a deformable element is engaged by the radially extending member and permanently deformed as a result of torque overload of the shaft, it is visible through a transparent portion (22) of a screen member (21) covering the deformable element. <IMAGE> |
