PURPOSE:To reduce temperature difference of the temperature distribution of a catalytic layer and shorten an actuating time by providing a cooling pipe, electric heaters and heat transfer nets to carry cooling water in a fuel cell to a catalytic layer which is formed of reforming catalyst for a carbon monoxide reformer. CONSTITUTION:A coil cooling pipe 11 is arranged in a catalytic layer 8 to carry hot cooling water supplied to a fuel cell, and electric heaters 14 are provided in the catalytic layer 8 at the center and the periphery along the flow of reformed gas at peripherally equal spaces. In addition, heat transfer nets 16 are formed at several positions of the catalytic layer 8 in the direction normal to the electric heaters 14 across the flow of the reformed gas. During actuating a carbon monoxide reformer, hot cooling water supplied to the fuel cell is carried to the cooling pipe 11 to raise the temperature of the catalytic layer 8 and at the same time the electric heaters 14 are electrified to heat and raise the temperature of the catalytic layer 8. In this case, heat transfer is encouraged by the heat transfer nets 16 at the cooling pipe 11, especially at the hot portions near the electric heaters 14. It is thus possible to raise the temperature of the catalytic layer 8 to a reaction starting point with reduced temperature difference of temperature distribution and shorten an actuating time. |
