A method for combating insect infestation in rice uses an insecticidally active N'-substituted-N, N'-diacylhydrazine of formula A-CO-NH-N(R)-CO-A' [wherein R is tert-butyl or neopentyl; A is a 2-pyridyl or phenyl, the phenyl ring being optionally substituted with one or two substituents independently selected from halo, methyl, ethyl, methoxy, or ethoxy; and A' is 1-methylethenyl or phenyl, the phenyl ring being optionally substituted with one or two substituents independently selected from halo, methyl or ethyl]. The invention also encompasses a vendible article which comprises a container, an insecticidally active N'-substituted-N, N'-diacylhydrazine and instructing information for applying said active compound to rice plants or seeds or to their growth medium or environment. |
