PURPOSE:To obtain a stable picture over a long period of time by bringing a substantially conductive liquid into contact with the surface of a photosensitive body, applying a substantially positive or negative voltage thereto, and effectively removing hydrophilic substances sticking to the surface of the photosensitive body. CONSTITUTION:Elastic foam rollers 13 and 14 are provided in refresh units 11 and 12, respectively. The elastic foam rollers 13 and 14 bring the substantially conductive liquid into contact with the photosensitive body 1, and apply voltages from batteries 11E and 12E, respectively. In such a manner, ionic hydrophilic substances which stick to and build up on the surface of the photosensitive body 1 are timely removed by being subjected to corona discharge. Thus, stable high picture quality can be maintained over a long period of time. |
