PURPOSE:To enhance the heavy-load discharge characteristic of an alkaline battery, by adjusting the ratio of the conductive assistant to silver oxide so that it is smaller than the ratio of the conductive assistant to manganese dioxide. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode 2 consists of the first active-material layer 8 prepared by subjecting a mixture of silver oxide with flake graphite to high-pressure press, and the second active-material layer 9 prepared by subjecting a mixture of manganese dioxide with flake graphite to high-pressure press. The former first active-material layer 8 faces to a separator 3, while the second active-material layer 9 faces to the bottom of a positive-electrode can 1. The ratio of the conductive assistant to the positive active material of the first layer 8, C1, is restricted to a value smaller than the ratio of the conductive assistant to the positive active material of the second layer 9, C2, (C1<C2). |
