PURPOSE:To prevent variation of sensitivity and drop of contrast and increase of black spots occurring on unexposed parts by coating a support in a specified relative humidity with a hydrophilic colloidal layer specified in an amount of binder, such as gelatin, per the total amount of the dried binder contained in all the layers. CONSTITUTION:At least one of the hydrophilic colloidal layer is formed by coating and drying the <=300% water content of the dried binder in a relative humidity of <=50%, preferably, at a temperature of 25 - 50 deg.C, in the process of cooling gelatin after the coating to convert it into gel and drying it. The relative humidity is meant by the percentage of a steam amount contained in a specified volume to the steam amount saturated in the air in said volume and the amount of steam may be expressed in terms of volume, weight, pressure, mmHg, etc., so long as both are expressed by the same unit, thus permitting sensitization and drop of contrast and increase of black spots due to the lapse of time to be prevented even in the case of using the developing solution low in pH and the raw storage stability to be enhanced.
