A wound clotting device (20) is disclosed comprising a clotting device (20) for dispensing a clotting agent (34) onto a selected location (A) in a patient while being retained adjacent to that location (A), comprising a tube (22) having a proximal end portion (26) and a distal end portion (24); means defining an inflation lumen (28) in said tube (22) extending between said proximal (26) and distal (24) end portions; inflatable retention means (32) carried by said tube (22) at said distal end portion (24) for retaining said distal end (24) at a selected location (A) within the body of a living patient, said retention means (32) being in fluid communication with said inflation lumen (28); means defining a second lumen (30) in said tube (22) extending between said proximal (26) and distal (24) end portions; means for receiving a quantity of clotting agent (34) located within said second lumen (30); and means (36,38,50,52) disposed within said second lumen (30) for dispensing said clotting agent (34) from said distal end (24) of said second lumen (30) to deposit said clotting agent (34) at said selected location (A) within a patient.
