In the golf ball having numerous dimples over the surface, the basic structure of ball is a polyhebron having 32 faces consisting of 20 regular triangles and 12 regular pentagons, each of the pentagons being divided into 5 equilateral triangles to make 60 triangles for the 5 pentagons and each of the 20 triangles being divided into 4 smaller regular triangles to make 80 small reg. triangles for the 20 griangles. The structure produces on the ball face six parting lines five of which, except one, are arranged to have one or more dimples across the lines to increase the surface area of the whole dimples over the ball. The depth of the dimples is to be of 4-9 % of the diameter for respective dimples. The increased dimple area of the ball increases the time of the ball staying in air, that is the flying distance of the ball, with reduction of air resistance. |
