PURPOSE:To allow the disconnection at an optimum timing and to automate the disconnection by detecting the temp. of the surface of an optical fiber preform with sensor and disconnecting this preform when the optimum temp. for disconnection is attained. CONSTITUTION:The temp. sensor 11 which detects the surface temp. of the optical fiber base material 6 is provided. For example, a small-sized TV camera or the like contg. the temp. sensor is usable as this temp. sensor 11. The surface image of the optical fiber preform 6 to be disconnected is projected by this camera and simultaneously the surface temp. thereof is measured and detected. Image information and temp. information are inputted to, for example, an external controller 12 according to this camera and are compared with the optimum temp. for disconnection which is previously set in the controller 12. For example, a lower frame 3 is lowered to disconnect the bottom end of the optical fiber preform 6 when the optimum temp. coincides with the actually measured temp. Further, the leading of the bottom end of the optical fiber preform 6 is executed by the flame from an oxyhydrogen burner 7 after this disconnection. The oxyhydrogen burner 7 may be retreated to a prescribed position by a traversing mechanism 8 after this leading is completed. |
