PROCESS FOR PREPARING CATALYST COMPONENTS FOR THE POLYMERISATION OF OLEFINS

A process for preparing solid catalyst components for catalysts for the polymerization of alpha olefins involving a solid support substance which comprises an organic or inorganic magnesium compound and is treated with a titanium halide and, if desired, with an electrondonor compound. The magnesium compound or the mixture of magnesium compound and the electron-donor compounds is sprayed molten into a chamber or a space 16 which is cooled to a temperature at which the catalyst component hardens from the melt as particles with essentially spherical shape without significant evaporation of constituents.
