PURPOSE:To improve handling quality by obtaining a refractive index n1 polymer by way of polymerizing a monomer expressed by a specified constitutional formula as a main monomer, and making the polymer a 3-layer structure optical fiber having a protective layer on the outer periphery of the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:A polymer of a refractive index n1 with fluoride alkyl ester of a, b - unsaturated mono-carboxylic acid expressed under an expression I is a core, a copolymer of par fluor (2, 2-dimethyl-1, 3-dioxol) and at least 12 others is a sheath and they are made into a core-sheath type optical fiber satisfying the condition of n1-n2>=0.01, and a protective layer is provided on its outer periphery. Consequently, it is possible to carry out optical transmission of more than 1km and obtain an optical fiber whose handling quality is extremely favorable, and its is possible to carry out construction by the optical fiber such as LAN, FA and others. |
