<p>PURPOSE:To improve operability and usability of the personal computer without confirming the remaining battery capacity by calculating the current consumption in a fixed time from the set battery driving time and the total battery capacity and setting the luminance of a display device based on the obtained current consumption. CONSTITUTION:In a set-up state, a message urging the input of the battery driving time is displayed in a set-up routine of a BIOS (basic input/output control system) ROM 1. Then the value of current consumed in a fixed time is calculated by a microcomputer containing a back light power supply 3 from the time inputted via a keyboard 2 and the total capacity of a battery 5. Thus the luminance of the back light of an LCD 4 is set based on the calculated current consumption value so that the power supply 3 is driven by a battery with control for only a time set by a user. As a result, it is not required to confirm the remaining battery capacity since the battery driving time inputted once by the user is available for the set time.</p> |
