PURPOSE:To improve water resistance remarkably in a high voltage insulator for an overhead power transmission line covered with an insulating cover made of silicone by providing in a postfitting process, an insulating cover made of silicon polymer in fittings fitted to both ends of a core rod and the periphery of the core rod, which is positioned between these fittings. CONSTITUTION:A high voltage insulator 10 consists of a core rod 11, fittings 12 fitted to both ends thereof and an insulating cover 13. In this structure, the rod 11 is made of FRP, and shares a load, which acts on the insulator 10, together with the fittings 12. Each fitting 12 consists of a fitting part 12a to be fitted to an overhead power transmission line and a cylindrical fixing part 12b for fixing the end of the rod 11, and fitting hole 12c is provided in the fitting part 12a, and insertion hole 12d, in which the end of the rod 11 is inserted, is provided in the fixing part 12b, and sleeve 12e is projected from the insertion hole 12a in the longitudinal direction. A cover 13 having multiple flange type shades 13a at intervals is installed to the periphery of the rod 11 without any gap by mold forming through a postfitting process. The cover 13 is made of hard silicone rubber including the addition agent. |
