A turret head milling or like machine tool comprises an electric motor 20 driving a tool through gearing, the head being supported by a bracket 14 pivoted and balanced about a horizontal axis 16. A column 10 carries an angularly-adjustable mounting 12 for a sliding over-arm 13 which carries the angularly-adjustable bracket 14 on a spigot 23. The motor drives bevel gears 29, belt gearing 33, 34 and changespeed gears 39, 41, 43. A tachometer may be fitted. |
