(Meth)acrylic acid esters of formula (Ia) or (Ib) are new. in which R1 = H or 1-3C alkyl, and R2 = 2-8C aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic gp. contg. a free carboxyl gp., no hetero atoms and opt. double bonds; or mixts. of these.S The (Ia/Ib) are prepd. by reacting (A) a di(meth)acrylic ester of glycerol, trimethylol(m)ethane or trimethylolpropane with (B) an acid or anhydride chosen from succinic acid, adipic acid, maleic acid, hexahydrophthalic acid, phthalic acid or bicyclo-(2,2,1)-hept-5-ene- 2,3-dicarboxylic acid, in a mol. ratio (A):(B) = 1:1.
