<p>PURPOSE:To provide the subject freshness-keeping agent composed of reduced iron powder having deoxidation activity and a porous substance capable of absorbing and removing freshness-deterioration gas, etc., having excellent freshness-keeping effect and useful in the field of food. CONSTITUTION:The objective freshness-keeping agent is composed of (A) reduced iron powder having deoxidation activity (having a powder size of preferably 150-200 mesh), (B) a porous substance such as zeolite capable of absorbing and removing the freshness-deterioration gas such as ethylene gas and carbon dioxide gas and (C) an assistant component consisting of a fine powder of an inorganic salt such as sodium hydroxide. The agent is placed together with fruits and vegetables in a preservation chamber or container.</p> |
