The invention concerns the operation of a false-twist yarn crimping machine for the manufacture of textured yarn. The invention particularly concerns a method for controlling the tension in the yarn running out from a false-twist torsion apparatus. This is done by measuring the tension continuously and converting the measurement signal into a control signal which is then used to control the forces acting on the yarn which determine the twist and the feed. The control range is selected so that any change in the control signal does not have any significant influence on the quality of the yarn in the twist zone and so that, for a given selected twist/feed ratio, the yarn tension lies within the required range. |
