A protective cover combination for use in salons wherein a top cover accessory (10) is secured about a person's neck positioned above the collar portion (104) of a cape (79) and towel (80) extending over the rear of the collar portion (104). The accessory (10) comprises pliable waterproof material having two ends with a cover portion therebetween, and covers portions of the cape (79) and towel (80) by extending over portions of the shoulders and back. One end comprises a U-shaped neck-receiving portion having a border which forms a narrow fluid-tight seal about rear and side portions of the neck when extensions are tied about the front of the neck. The person is reclined over a sink, portion of the accessory (10) is disposed in the sink to shield the cape collar (104) and towel (80), the fluids are applied, and the accessory is released from the person to remain in the sink before moving the person to the upright position.
