PURPOSE:To obtain the subject colorless and odorless edible fiber capable of addition to various kinds of foods and beverages and also to a feed and a pet food utilizing the undermentioned by-products by using by-products derived from grains, etc., as the raw material, acting a protease thereon, subsequently pulverizing and grinding the resultant protease-treated material. CONSTITUTION:By-products (preferably rice brain, bran, waste powder generated in polishing, outer skin, defatted substance thereof or processed material thereof) derived from grains (e.g. rice, barley, oat, millet or common millet) and/or beans (e.g. soybean, red bean, peas or broad bean) are used as the raw material. A protease (e.g. pepsin, trypsin, chymotrypsin, papain, bromelin or ficin) is acted thereon and the resultant protease-treated material is subsequently pulverized and ground, thus giving the objective fiber. |
