1,185,281. Toothed gearing. LOHMANN & STOLTERFOHT A.G. 17 Jan., 1968 [26 Jan., 1967], No. 2630/68. Heading F2Q. A lantern gear, comprising pins 6 supported between a pair of discs (11) (Fig. 2, not shown) to form the gear teeth, is driven by a pinion 1 mounted in a housing 2 which is anchored by a link 5 to a fixed point and which carries guide members 3 engaging axial extensions of the pins 6 outside the discs (11) to hold the pinion in mesh with the lantern gear. The pin extensions may be plain or may carry rollers 7, as shown. The guide members 3, arranged in pairs inside the pitch circle of the lantern gear, are pivoted at 4 to the housing 2. A third pair of guide members (3a) may be added outside the pitch circle of the lantern gear, adjacent the pinion 1 (Fig. 3, not shown). The pinion 1 is driven from an input shaft 10 via reduction gears 9, 8. The gearing may be used in the tilting drive of a steelworks converter. |
