PURPOSE:To save the removal of the accumulated ions from an anolyte by supplying raw material water to a cathode chamber in the method for generating O3 by supplying the raw material water to an electrolytic cell segmented to the anode and cathode chambers by a solid electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:For example, the electrolytic cell 1 of a box type for generating O3 is segmented by the solid electrolyte 2 to the anode chamber 3 and the cathode chamber 4. An anode layer 5 consisting of lead dioxide powder is formed on the anode chamber 3 side of the electrolyte 2 and a cathode material layer 6 consisting of platinum is formed on the cathode chamber 4 side, respectively. The raw material water, such as pure water or ion exchange water, is supplied from a raw material supply port 13 into the cathode chamber 4 alone and while the inside of the anode chamber 3 is maintained in the absent state of the liquid phase or the vapor phase state substd. preferably with O3 or O2, electricity is supplied between the layers 5 and 6 from power feed elements 8, 9 connected to the side faces thereof. The generated gaseous H2 is introduced from a take-out port 12 into a gas-liquid sepn. column 11 and is taken out of the upper part of the column 11. The raw material water subjected to the gas-liquid sepn. is introduced from a supply port 13 into the cathode chamber 4. The gaseous mixture composed of the O3 and the O2 is taken out of the take-out port 10. |
