The face panel (11), located at the upper portion of the front door, is provided with a mainl inlet/outlet (111), a slot (18), a refund button (181), mail classification selected buttons (115-119), a mail return button (110), indication lights (101-104) and signal units (112-114) to be operated by customers. An instruction plate (13) is located at the right side and a coin return slot (12) on the left. Automatic transmission mechanism delivers and weights mail dropped in through the inlet. The wt. is shown on one of the indicators. Senders press down the mail classification button and the postage is calculated by the microcomputer controller. The amt. is also indicated. The mail is then franked after the correct coins or more-change being given have been inserted. The mail continues being delivered to a sorting mechanism controlled by the microcomputer.
