A device is disclosed for solving the problem of sun tracking photovoltaic flat solar collectors without using up electric energy. A solar panel (1) is secured to a tube (16) that pivots around an axis (5) inclined with respect to the horizon essentially by the same angle as the geographic latitude and oriented approximately towards the South. The tube (16) also carries a wing (32) oriented in a perpendicular direction to the tube (16). A second identical wing (31) is secured to the frame (4) that carries the whole system. The movable stems (13) of two cylinders (6, 7) engage the wings (31, 32). The cylinders are filled with a low boiling substance under whose pressure the stems (13) are axially moved depending on the temperature. The fixed stems (12) of the cylinders (6, 7) are secured to a fork (33) linked to a coaxial stem (34) to the fixed stems (12, 13) and axially movable in a hingedly mounted tube (35). The cylinders (6, 7) are incorporated into parabolic reflectors (8). The first cylinder (6) is essentially oriented towards the East, whereas the second cylinder (7) is essentially oriented towards the West. When the rays of the rising sun strike the cylinder (6), it expands when its threshold temperature is reached and pivots the tube (16) with the solar panel (1) towards the sun. The same happens with the cylinder (7) when the meridian height is crossed. When the ambiant temperature exceeds the threshold temperature of the cylinders (6, 7), both expand and the stem (34) is axially pushed into the tube (35), stopping the rotation effect. |
