The bundle is employed for the manufacture of a filter module. In a first step, the filament (1) is wound in a number of superposed layers around a flat support (10) provided with two take-up edges (17) which are perpendicular to the direction of winding of the filament, imparting to this filament an alternating transverse motion of decreasing amplitude so as to produce a winding exhibiting a determined profile. The flat support (10) is then withdrawn while the take-up edges (17) are brought closer together so as to obtain a bundle with a cross-section which is a function of the winding profile and of the curved ends. ……
