PURPOSE:To detect the deterioration of a developer, by measuring developer density, and supplying the developer on the basis of the measured value, and at the same time comparing a developer supply quantity with a reference value previously set, on the basis of a drive time. CONSTITUTION:This is a method in which a developer supply quantity supplied to a development means is made to be a developer consumption quantity, and the deterioration of the developer in the development means is detected by the average value of the developer consumption quantity. As the deterioration of the developer is decided by operating a supply quantity as a consumption quantity through the utilization of a developer supply means, the deterioration of the developer can be detected simply and accurately. Also, the deterioration or the like of a development performance, an image quality and color reproducibility can be prevented beforehand, and the deterioration of a developer can be detected so that a developer which is stable at all times, may be able to be supplied. |
