PURPOSE:To obtain the subject copolymer having a specified dynamic viscosity coefficient by mixing an alkali metallic hydroxide with an alkali metallic hydrosulfide, adding and reacting a dihalogeno aromatic ketone therewith and then reacting the resultant reaction product with a dihalogeno aromatic carboxylic acid. CONSTITUTION:(A) Hydrosulfide and hydroxide of an alkali metal such as lithium or potassium are added and mixed in a polar solvent, e.g. dimethylformamide, heated and dehydrated. (B) A dihalogeno aromatic ketone (e.g. 4,4'-dichlorobenzophenone) is then added and reacted therewith at preferably 150-300 deg.C. (C) A dihalogeno aromatic carboxylic acid and (D) hydroxide, etc., of an alkali metal (e.g. sodium hydroxide) are added and reacted with the resultant product to afford the objective copolymer having 10 to 10<5> P dynamic viscosity coefficient at 375 deg.C. |
