<p>PURPOSE:To output a high-quality document by a method wherein characters are discriminated from images, and smoothing is applied in a character area and not applied in an image area when the data is outputted. CONSTITUTION:Character or image data transmitted from a host computer 1 is stored in a page memory 3. Addresses for starting and ending smoothing unnecessary image data are stored in an address data memory 4. When the data inputted in a main control part 5 is characters, the character images are read from a character pattern generation part 6. When the data is images, the images are transmitted to a scan buffer 7. A read control part 8 reads the scan buffer 7 on a read signal from the main control part 5 and outputs the data to a parallel/serial converter 10 in synchronism with a horizontal synchronizing signal 14 of an image forming part 11. The data address of the main control part 5 is compared with the value of the memory 4 in an address comparator 60. If smoothing is not required, a smoothing ON/OFF line of a signal line 13 is turned OFF, whereby a smoothing circuit 9 is set to OFF.</p> |
