The electrolytic cell described has at least one capillary-structure electrode and is characterized in that the electrode has a dense, directional, substantially one-dimensional capillary structure, the longitudinal axes of the capillaries making an angle alpha of 0 DEG to 75 DEG with the perpendicular to the plane between the inner and outer electrode planes and the length of the capillaries being at least 10 times their diameter, thus enabling the direction of motion of the gas bubbles through the electrode to be defined. |
