The present invention relates to an apparatus for distributing skewers, especially wooden skewers intended for making brochettes, among respective bores of a reception apparatus, such as a loading apparatus of a skewering machine. Cradles (193), each of which is capable of receiving a skewer (2), travel past a skewer take-up location (134) and then a location (113) for transferring the skewers (2) towards the reception apparatus (1). To ensure that skewers (2) having natural bending are taken up, each cradle takes up each skewer (2) only over a dimension (2L8) substantially smaller than the length (L) of the latter.
