PURPOSE:To improve corrosion resistance by thermal spraying a different metal, such as copper, titanium, nickel, stainless steel, or chromium, or the alloy thereof, onto the surface of a blank material made of a metal, such as aluminum, then forming the alloy layer with the different metal on the surface of the metallic blank material by a diffusion method. CONSTITUTION:Molten copper is thermally sprayed by a flame system using the combustion heat of gaseous oxygen acetylene onto the surface of the parallel striking part 1a or also its tapered part 1b of the metallic bat 1. Such metallic bat is heat treated to diffuse the film of the copper into the aluminum base so that the intermetallic compd. is formed on the aluminum surface. The metallic bat obtd. in such a manner is hardened in the striking part. The impact resistance of this part is eventually increased. On the other hand, the front end of the tapered part is formed slightly heavier while the deflection is maintained and, therefore, the repulsive force at the time of striking against a ball is improved and the flying distance is increased. In addition, the impact sound is made gentle. |
