Device for grinding at least the drive links of saw chains, which device comprises grinding wheels disposed on a spindle of the grinding machine, two grinding wheels being spaced at a distance apart corresponding to the thickness of the drive links. According to the invention, a bearing surface 23 is disposed externally around at least part of the periphery of the two grinding wheels 8, which bearing surface is configured to support the saw chain 25 and has a guide groove 24 for the drive links 26 of the saw chain, this guide groove having a width at least equal to the distance between the grinding wheels 8 and lying in the radial direction externally around the grinding wheels 8 and their interspace, further to which the guide groove 24 is continuous along at least that part of the bearing surface 23 which lies closest to the peripheral parts of the grinding wheels and which in the radial direction has relatively small thickness to allow the drive links 26 of the saw chain to pass between the grinding wheels 8 for grinding whenever there is movement of the chain relative to the said bearing surface 23. <IMAGE> |
