PREPARATION OF OPTICALLY ACTIVE NAPHTHYLETHANOL DERIVATIVE

PURPOSE:To prepare (fluorophenyl)-dioxolan-yl-piperidinyl-naphthyl-ethanol useful as a medicine intermediate by asymmetrically hydrogenating a specific compound in the presence of a ruthenium-optically active phosphine complex. CONSTITUTION:2-{4-[2-(p-Fluorophenyl)-1,3-dioxolan-2-yl]-1-piperidinyl }-2'- acetonaphthene is asymmetrically hydrogenated in the presence of a ruthenium- optically active phosphine complex (preferably a compound of formula II [(+) or (-)-BINAP is a tertiary phosphine of formula III; R<1>, R<2> are lower alkyl, trifluoromethyl]} as a catalyst to prepare the objective optically active 2-{4-(2-(p- fluorophenyl)-1,3-dioxolan-2-yl}-1-piperidinyl}-1-naphthyl-1-ethanol.
