PURPOSE:To industrially, safely and simply obtain the subject compound by introducing chloromethyl group into benzene ring using carbon tetrachloride and a Lewis acid and then reacting the resultant complex with alcohols, etc., in the presence of an esterification catalyst without isolating the product. CONSTITUTION:A fluorobenzene compound expressed by formula I (X1 to X4 are H, Cl, Br or I and at least one thereof is F) is reacted with carbon tetrachloride in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst to provide a complex of fluorobenzotrichloride compound with the Lewis acid expressed by formula II. An esterification catalyst is then added to the resultant complex without isolation thereof and the obtained complex is subsequently reacted with alcohols or a mixture solution of water and the alcohols to carry out conversion into an alkoxycarbonyl group in one step. Thereby, the objective compound, expressed by formula III and useful as an intermediate for medicines, etc., is readily obtained in high yield in one pot. |
