PURPOSE:To improve a color-forming sensitivity, a background whiteness, a shelf stability (e.g. fading of image and occurrence of dust), and the like by using at least one of specific ester compounds as an adjuvant component in a thermal recording material using a color forming reaction of a leuco dye with a color developer therefor. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal recording material using a color forming reaction of a leuco dye with a color developer therefor, at least one of ester compounds shown by a general formula (I) is used as an adjuvant component. In this manner, the thermal recording material has a superior color-forming sensitivity, a suitability for high-speed recording, a high background whiteness, and a superior shelf stability.
