PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration in quality caused by a collapse phenomenon by a method wherein a rolled thermal recording material sheet provided with an undercoat layer containing fine hollow particles is compressed so that the thickness thereof is smaller than the thickness of a standard thermal recording sheet by a ratio of a specific range. CONSTITUTION:A thermal recording sheet provided with an undercoat layer containing fine hollow particles between a substrate and a thermal color forming layer is rolled in a web form to obtain a rolled thermal recording material. The rolled thermal recording material sheet used in this thermal recording material is compressed so that the thickness thereof is smaller than a thermal recording sheet thickness according to JIS8118 by 2-20%. For example, where the thickness of the recording sheet is xmum, the thickness of the recording material sheet is 0.80x-0.98xmum. By adjusting the thickness of the recording material sheet so that it is reduced by 2-20% by compressing the sheet, the recording material can be improved in handleability and quality stability in long-term storage. |
