1,162,228. Polyamide coated fibrous substrates. J. W. S. NOMINEE CO. Ltd. 7 Oct., 1966 [9 Oct., 1965], No. 44993/66. Heading B2E. [Also in Divisions C3 and D1] A process for coating a fibrous or filamentary substrate comprises reacting a diamine and a dicarboxylic acid ester in a liquid medium thereon. Specified substrates are keratinuous fibres e.g. wool, cotton and silk, slivers, yarns, combings and knitted or woven fabrics made therefrom and paper and cardboard. The reaction is preferably effected under interfacial conditions, the diamine being in aqueous solution and the ester in an aqueous emulsion. The reactants may be applied to the substrate separately or as an aqueous emulsion thereof. Specified diamines are hexamethylene, ethylene and trimethylhexamethylene diamine. Specified esters are bis-thiophenyl, bis-thiocreyl, bis-p-nitrophenyl, bis-o-nitrophenyl, bisp-nitro thiophenyl, bis-2, 4, 5-trichlorophenyl, bis-N-succinamide, bis-N-phthalimide, bis-cyanomethyl and dimethyl sebacate. The examples describe the treatment of a knitted tubular Woollen article. |
