1,025,594. Hydraulic brakes; valves. SOC. ANON. FRANCAISE DU FERODO. Feb. 25, 1964 [March 6, 1963], No. 7852/64. Headings F2F and F2V. A device for preventing locking of the rear brakes of a motor vehicle comprises a valve 17 loaded by a spring 24, interposed between an hydraulic supply at 15 and the supply to the rear brakes at 21, which is acted on by the supply circuit pressure to close against the spring 24 when the pressure exceeds the calibrated strength of the spring, there being a permanent passage 25 having a high pressure drop formed in the valve. The spring 24 is weak so that the valve closes early in the application of the brakes by a master cylinder which actuates both front and rear brakes. An additional valve 17a without the passage 25 and with a strong spring 24a may be interposed between the device and the rear wheels. |
