The present invention relates to a guide assembly for a turbo machine compressor of the type including a metallic annular hoop (2) delimiting the external profile of the stream of fluid, and a row of fixed vanes (3) extending radially towards the inside of the said hoop (2). The outer end of each of the said vanes (3) is in the form of a wedge, the thickest part of which is situated close to the outer end face (6a) of the said vane (3). The said hoop (2) exhibits prismatic slits (7) having a shape which complements the wedge, by virtue of which each vane (3) is set into the corresponding slit (7) from outside the hoop (2) and is immobilised by a wedge effect into the said hoop (2) without being able to escape therefrom in the radially inwards direction. The said vanes (3) are held in place in the corresponding slit (7) by a metallic piece (9) which bears against the end face (6a) of the said vane (3) and which interacts with notches (10) provided on the outer face of the said hoop (2). <IMAGE>
