PURPOSE:To uniformize the fluctuation in the water volume and water quality of waste water in any adsorption treatment in the post treatment by storing the separated water obtd. by gravity sepn. of the waste water, subjecting this water to a circulating treatment via an adsorbent layer, and further subjecting a part of this circulation- treated water to the adsorption treatment. CONSTITUTION:An overflow section 3 of the separated water is provided in the upper part of a gravity type sepn. tank 1 provided with a waste water inflow section 2. This overflow section 3 is connected to a separated water storage tank. A circulating flow passage disposed with a circulating pump 12 is formed in this separated water storage tank 6 and the adsorbent layer 10 is provided in the circulating flow passage thereof. The outflow side of the adsorbent layer 10 is connected via a transfer pump 13 to an adsorbent-packed column 17 so that the circulating water is transferred to the adsorbent-packed column 17. Consequently, the pretreatment of the adsorption method by the adsorbent is rationalized and the load of the post treatment is uniformized and decreased in spite of the fluctuation in the volume of the waste water and the concn. of the org. chlorine compd. in the waste water. The treatment stable over a long period of time is thus executed.
