The invention describes a bacteriological analysis method for selectively detecting Salmonella, and a medium for its implementation. The method is based on the specific capacity of Salmonella to ferment glucuronic acid or one of its salts and not produce beta -galactosidase. The medium comprises a nutritive substrate metabolised by the bacteria, a chromium or fluorine producing compound, capable of being hydrolised by the beta -galactosidase enzyme, the glucuronic acid or one of its salts, and a pH indicator.
