Core of pocket springs

The core of pocket springs (1) has a number of springs (4) contained by parallel chains (2,3) each of which has a continuous row of springs (4) tightly wrapped in a cloth-type covering which joins them. The pockets thereby formed have transverse join-seams (5) parallel to the lengthwise axes of the springs (4). Near the seams (5), the chains (2,3) have insertion-slots (6) opening towards the same edge, and extending half the chain-height. A second group of chains is at right angles to the first group.
