Ignition coil arrangement for IC engine - has laminated core mounted on earthing bolts gripped by sprung spacers which thermally decouple coil from engine

The mounting for individual ignition coils for an engine has each coil (2) attached to a laminated core (2.1) with corner holes to locate the fasteners. Two fasteners comprise short captive studs (3) fitted into the bottom of the recess in the engine cover. A push-fit over the studs secures the coil. The remaining holes are secured by screws (7) which also secure the coil cover. The studs are gripped by sprung spacers (4) which thermally decouple the coil from the engine. The cover screws have sleeves under the cover to press down on the coil mounting. ADVANTAGE - Rapid fitting, coil can be temporarily secured onto studs for testing/tuning, rapid plug changing.
