The joint sleeve is filled with a compound using a filling opening for the space between the sleeve and the cable joint, or an inner sleeve surrounding the joint. Sealing elements are fitted to the sleeve ends to seal the gap between the sleeve and the cable. The joint sleeve (10) is formed from an integrally extruded, curved profile with two parallel long edges (24) and a deformable section extending longitudinally, at a distance from the long edges. The long edges (24) can move toward or away from each other to laterally close or open the joint sleeve. The free long edges e.g. with the help of fasteners, are sealingly connectable to each other. ADVANTAGE - Simple, low-cost mfr., and versatile application.
