The length adjuster for the guy cable used to stabilise the closing edge of a roof cover at the end section of the cable, (4), where there is a spring for keeping the tension constant. The adjusting end of the cable is inserted into a tubular housing (8) with a section decreasing in stages and his held by the tensioning spring (18) in a threaded socket (17). The socket takes a threaded shaft of enlarged dia. with an external thread (17a), with an unsymmetrical section at the end and so engaging that it cannot rotate in the smaller of the sections (16) of the housing. The threaded shank screws into a sleeve (11) so located in a bore (10) that it can turn. This bore is the larger of the housing sections.
