<p>PURPOSE:To stop a vehicle safely and securely by a method wherein, in order to stop the vehicle, current supply to an electric motor is discontinued after a predetermined lapse of time from the timing of lever actuation and, at the same time, a brake is put into a maximum braking state. CONSTITUTION:An operation lever 21 is provided near a steering arm 1 so as to be operated by gripping it together with the steering arm 1. A limit switch is provided near the operation lever 21 to stop the driving of an electric motor 3 and make a solenoid-operated brake 12 perform a braking operation. During a predetermined lapse of time after the detection timing of the limit switch, an exciting driving current is controlled to vary so as to increase the braking force of the solenoid-operated brake 12 gradually. After a predetermined lapse of time, the driving current of the motor 3 is cut off and the solenoid-operated brake 12 is immediately set at a maximum braking state.</p> |
