The power and/or positive joining press contains a plunger (20) and die (24) using an actuator (14) to move the plunger to and away from the die. The die is adjustably carried in a mount (32) coaxial to the plunger movement. At its end, away from the plunger it is carried on a swivel bearing (36), whose pivot axis (38) is at right angles to the plunger sense. Pref. the mount is at the free end of light metal or plastics arm (34) whose far end (34b) is fixed to a ram (14). USE/ADVANTAGE - For sheet metal etc. components with a facility to be adapted for robot operation, and improved tool alignment.
