Monitoring and regulating silage cutter - using processor to monitor cutter speed and flow-rate of crop and pressure difference in crop duct

The silage cutter harvests the crop and chops it via a cutting drum (18) to blow into a duct (2) for loading into the trailer etc. The machine is processor-controlled to optimise the functions. The cutting rate of the drum and the flow-rate of the cut crop into the duct are measured as well as the pressure levels in two separate planes (3,4) inside the converging duct. The pressure levels are monitored by simple pressure, out-of-contact and acoustic sensors etc. The machine computes the flow-rate and adds processing fluids etc. to assist in storage of the crop. The fluids are held in central tanks and added to the crop at a programmed rate. Several lines lead to the monitoring planes and are linked to pressure differential motors. USE/ADVANTAGE - Accurate monitoring of flow-rate, efficient addition of preservatives.
