Safety vavle for a battery housing consists of a valve tube (5) projecting from an aperture of the housing, with a valve hose (3) positioned over its outer surface. The tube is open on the battery side and closed at its outer end and has a valve opening (4) covered by the hose. Its length/dia. ratio is more than 1 and its depth of insertion into the housing is limited by a shoulder (9). It locks into place in the housing. ADVANTAGE - Simply inserted and checked from outside, low permeation rate.
