In prodn of Al/alpha-Al203 composite layers by a multiple injection, vaccum plasma spraying process, the novelty is that Al and alpha-Al203 particles are sprayed simultaneously and independently of each other under certain plasma spraying conditions such that the alpha-Al203 particles are dispersed in the Al matrix while retaining their initial state. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process is useful in machine and vehicle construction for friction pairs and construction elements and in medical technology. The layers have increased wear and high temp corrosion resistance and are produced at low cost with minimal pollution. |
